It all started when Keith Spicer began blending and packing tea from his mother's kitchen in Bournemouth. The tea tasted so good that by 1940 he had acquired a site to produce it on a larger scale.
In 2009, 75 years after Keith's first batch of tea, Dorset Tea was officially launched to celebrate his work and the natural beauty and sunshine of Dorset. The brand is now known for their delicious 'cups of sunshine' which are made with premium tea leaves and natural ingredients.
Dorset Tea offers a wide range of black and green teas, plus fruit and herbal infusions. Their signature Sunshine Blend is award-winning, as is their zingy Ginger and Sunshine Lemon and the new Sandy Beaches Loose Leaf. The loose leaf tea is designed to be as luxurious as a long, lazy summer's day on Dorset's sandy beaches, while the fruit and herbal teas pay homage to the wealth of fruits and flavours found along Dorset's coast and countryside.
In addition to its delicious tea, Dorset Tea is also committed to sustainability. The brand partners with the Rainforest Alliance, Marine Conservation Society, and Jurassic Coast Trust to help protect natural environments. Dorset Tea also uses sustainable packaging, including biodegradable tea bags and recyclable boxes.
The local community is at the heart of the brand. Last year, they launched its "Communi-Tea" initiative, which partners with local groups and charities who come together to connect for shared causes. Since its launch, Dorset Tea has helped equip Grounded Community's outdoor kitchen, establish a Tea Club for Age UK, fund volunteer training for Home Start Wessex, and provide resources for Poole Hospital's dementia ward.
