Hi Roz! Can you give us an introduction to yourself and your style of work?

Hello! I am a photographer based on the South Coast. I travelled along from Brighton to Bournemouth in 2015 to study photography at AUB.  I have been really fortunate to have worked alongside some amazing people with great ideas which paired with my work creates imagery to match. My style of work sort of originated from my love of photographing ephemeral/ temporary moments. I spent most of my photography degree using film so I have adapted a similar, although wholly digital, approach to my technique and post production.

What was your most memorable moment in your career?

I remember when I took a trip to Ringwood on my bicycle and photographed the outside of Calm Amongst the Chaos’ shop, it wasn’t open that day and I had never seen it or much of Ringwood before, however the shop was lit really beautifully by the sun, it must have been about 5pm during autumn so I took a photo of it. I sent it to them on Instagram and it unexpectedly started what would become a long collaboration between us, and I will always be grateful for that. It made me realise that what I often find to be a feeling of all consuming desire to take pictures of all that catches my eye, could be something much bigger.

What is your biggest inspiration?

I find inspiration from walking around, seeing life, strangers, friends and family. Light. I read books and find many different mediums to be a great source of inspiration. I am inspired to continue when I meet people with interesting projects and ideas. Seeing the results through imagery can really reaffirm their vision.

Do you have any exciting projects in the pipeline?

I have recently started working at Bournemouth University as a demonstrator in digital imaging and will be starting a PGCE in education in September. I have always wanted to teach, I have always felt very inspired by my teachers at college and university, they pass on so much knowledge and really encourage creativity and exploration. I don’t think I would have found my way in photography without it. So this really feels like an exciting career progression, to be able to share my work and knowledge with young people.
