Ashley Barnett, the founder of L'Apero, has taken the drinks scene by storm with a vibrant pop-up drinks brand that offers unique and immersive drinking experiences. Collaborating with chefs and other creatives, each L'Apero event celebrates the beauty of local ingredients, drawing inspiration from people and produce.
With a decade-long career in the bar industry, Ashley's journey began with competing in high-profile cocktail competitions and working in bars along the South Coast. However, his creative spirit drove him to venture beyond the confines of traditional bartending. This led him to embark on a new venture - L'Apero, where he could provide high-quality, creative drinking experiences.
When asked about his recommendations from the drinks menu for first-timers, Ashley's eyes light up as he talks about the diverse array of cocktails. "All of the cocktails we make are inspired by seasonal ingredients and whoever we are working with," he says with enthusiasm. Amongst the highlights, he mentions the Goan Sour, a delightful blend of Indian whiskey, mango and cardamom, inspired by their Goan friends at Pickled Mongoose. Another crowd favourite is the Fermented Rhubarb Bellini, crafted using rhubarb sourced from Sopley Farm and paired with the effervescence of local prosecco brand Midas.
Looking ahead, the future of L'Apero is brimming with exciting events and collaborations. On August 26th, they will be hosting a takeover at the Conker Distillery, promising a memorable evening of rum based deliciousness and good company. But this is just the beginning: Ashley reveals his ambitious plans for the brand. "From then on, we have a number of chefs and venues lined up for supper clubs," he shares. Always on the lookout for creative minds eager to collaborate, L'Apero thrives on bringing together like-minded individuals to craft experiences that leave a lasting impression on every guest.
As the brand embarks on new adventures and collaborations, one thing is certain - L'Apero is here to stay, captivating hearts and palates, one unique drink at a time.
