Noose & Key
In conversation with Craig Barrett, owner of mens grooming salon Noose & Key in Westbourne, Bournemouth.
Can you give us an introduction to Noose and Key?
Noose & Key, established in 2020, brings a fresh and innovative approach to men's grooming. As a completely sustainable business, we take great pride in being the only salon in Dorset that is 100% renewable and cruelty-free. Our appointment-only schedule allows us to provide personalised and attentive service to every client.
What actions have you taken to ensure the sustainability of your barbering business?
At our salon, we have always been committed to being as environmentally friendly as possible. We partner with Salon Sustainability, a company that enables us to recycle our hair clippings and plastic waste. The hair clippings are used to create hair booms for oil and chemical spill containment in harbours, rivers, and industrial sites, while the plastic is transformed into pellets and sold back to the plastics industry.
In addition, we rely on the UK's greenest energy company, Ecotricity, to power our salon through clean electricity and gas. We also ensure that all of our products align with our green values and brand image.
What led to your decision to base your barbers in Westbourne?
Westbourne boasts a vibrant and welcoming community, attracting a diverse range of clients. The presence of other forward-thinking independent businesses, such as Ounce Coffee and Almond & Co, further solidifies the decision to make your mark in this dynamic neighbourhood.
What’s next for Noose Key?
At the moment, we are thrilled to continue expanding our client base and business in Westbourne. While we have big plans for the future, including potential collaborations with other independent businesses in the area, you'll have to stay tuned to see what we have in store.
