Imogen Charleston

Imogen Charleston is a ceramic artist based on the Dorset coast, creating functional and sculptural forms that tell the story of the landscape. She uses locally sourced foraged materials, such as wild clay, rocks and plants, that are gathered and processed by hand, making each piece unique. Imogen is passionate about environmentalism and strives to make her practice as sustainable as possible.

Her recent collection, developed during her residency at Poole Museum, incorporates woven elements made with ghost fishing net fibre. As an environmentalist, Imogen believes in honouring what the earth provides for us as humans, and she feels that her work helps reconnect people with the natural world.

In addition to her art, Imogen teaches pottery, having founded Moon Studio Ceramics in 2015. Her classes celebrate the ancient craft, and she enjoys sharing her passion for ceramics with others.
